Contemporary art installation : "Le Fil Perdu"
from June 15 to September 19, 2021
The idea of commissioning a work from a contemporary artist on this subject was born from a joint reflection with A-L. Chamboissier, curator of the exhibition. The latter invited a dozen artists to live in several places in Touraine following a creative residency. The theme "Living in a place" takes on its full meaning in a period when everyone is reviewing their lifestyles and the spaces that surround them. In Champchevrier, Diego Movilla was thus able to re-examine the places and take a unique look at the collections. However, it is a collection of exceptional tapestries - described as dazzling by great connoisseurs - which is kept at the Château de Champchevrier and which testifies the importance of tapestries in the 16th and 17th centuries decoration. The subject of the tapestries was therefore imposed by the almost abstract modernity of certain motifs, and by the very variety of Loves of the Gods which would include other subjects treated by Vouet. From the "lost thread" hypothesis springs the temptation to "complete" the series.
In order not to fall into a form of anecdotal illustration, the artist offered to work very freely with his tools, mainly painting and drawing. It is a kind of imaginary investigation, with conclusion in large format, but in a certain way "damaged", pixelated halfway between high and low definition, blurred by the passage of time, and described with the codes of the 21st century.
Free with the Château entrance ticket.
Outdoor photographic exhibition "The fabulous journey of the gate of honor"
from June 15 to September 19, 2021
An imaginary and poetic journey to re-enchant visitors.
In the beginning, it was only a dream ... That of restoring the beautiful gate of honor of the Château de Champchevrier. This gate marks the boundary between the public and the private, the outside world and that of dreams, history, and the castle itself where so many lives have been lived. It has become the symbol of the castle itself.
Now more than ever, after confinement, we need poetry, re-enchantment, escape. Therefore through the magic wand of photographer Gustaf Hamilton, the gate of honor escaped, and leads the good life by traveling to the four corners of the world: as evidenced by the postcards XL format like those sent by the dwarf of Amélie Poulain, from the famous film by Jean-Pierre Jeunet.
From dream to reality: the gate is currently undergoing a restoration campaign. Thanks to the generosity of patrons, the gate of honor really knows a fabulous fate, beyond the trip!
So now it’s up to you to surprise us! This photographic exhibition invites you to take our gate on a journey to the destination of your dreams. How to participate?
- Send us a photo (without character) of your vacation where you would like to carry our grid of honor,
- Regularly, we will select a photo and we will upload our grid to it,
- Like the gate, you will be honored: we will mention you by making a post on our social networks,
- At the end of the exhibition, election of the most beautiful visual and the winner will receive a poster print;
Exhibition produced with the support of ADX Groupe, Crédit Agricole Touraine Poitou and the Centre Val de Loire region;
Free for visitors with a Castle entrance ticket.
